Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) and Gypsy Moth are two major tree pests being surveyed for in Iowa. Efforts are being made to keep these insects from being introduced, and distributed throughout the State.
This site is designed to be a source of information for the people of Iowa, and for any person who may be interested in learning more about these insects. These pests have contributed to the loss of millions of urban and rural forestland trees throughout infested areas of the United States.
Inside you will find photos and information, to help you identify both of these serious pests.
This site is maintained by the Entomology and Plant Science Bureau of the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS). We collaborate our efforts with several organizations including, but not limited to:
Iowa State University Cooperative Extension
Iowa Department of Natural Resources (IDNR)
USDA Animal Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS)
USDA Forest Service
